You must have a single-point sling-plate
installed to use an HST sling. Anyway, here's how to make an adjustable
single-point HST-type sling for $2.75 at Wal-Mart.
Go to Wal-Mart, and buy these:

On the left is a utility strap, found in the camping supply section (with the
tent-stakes, bungees, snake-bite kits, etc.). Cost is $1.63 at my Wal-Mart. On
the right is a pack of 2 strap adjusters (I call em sliders) found in the sewing
supply area (with sewing needles, buttons, yarn, etc. Try to look like you are
buying something on request from wife/girlfriend in this area. Look confused,
stagger around, scratch your head, and carry a fake shopping list if necessary.)
Cost: $1.12.
Start buy unwrapping the utility strap, and one of the sliders, like this:

Thread the slider onto the strap, like so:

Slide the slider (hence the name) up the strap, and snug it up against the
buckle, like this:

Thread the strap thru the sling plate like this:

Now bring the strap over the sling-plate loop, and thread it through the slider
by following the arrow.

Pull everything tight, until it looks like this:

Now thread the strap through the remaining slider, then through the male end of
the buckle, and back through the slider (following the arrow). If you are like
me, you may have to re-do this step once or twice, because you may have the
slider or buckle threaded backwards for optimum, twist free performance. You can
then adjust length with the slider as needed.

Buckle it up, and you're ready to roll:

This strap is only 1" wide webbing, so it's a little thin. I have found a 2"
strap with buckle elsewhere (Luggage strap, Wal-Mart, $3.69), and I'm scrounging
around for sliders, but this will do until I find the parts I need.
